You follow a story about a noble youth caught in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy plot during their first social season as they navigate both new romantic relationships and old secrets.

 Uncover secrets, connect clues, fall in love and save your family as you navigate the treacherous world of politics and high society. Learn who you can trust or find yourself cornered with no one to turn to.

Can you survive without losing everything you hold dear?

"Secrets & Strings" is a murder mystery and romance interactive novel set in an entirely fictional historical setting.

You are a child of lower nobility, about nineteen years of age. Due to your parents' various duties, you've spent much of your childhood in the countryside with your grandparents and older brother Oscar.

The game starts when you come back to the capital city of the Kingdom of Amaranthine, just in time for your first official social season. As you navigate the events of the season and a blossoming romance, you find yourself caught in a web of secrets, mystery and passion.

The peace negotiations between your home, the Kingdom of Amaranthine, and the neighboring Kingdom of Ivorroth are set to begin as the season starts.  Your brother Oscar happens to be one of the negotiations.

As the story unfolds, your mother’s old secrets, Oscar’s increasing preoccupation with the peace talks and your rising worries about the murder no one wants to talk about, turn your first social season into something far different than you expected.

Current State Of The Demo

Currently, the demo has 20000 words total and you can see 5000 words per one play, which is around 20-30 minutes of content. 

Only one Love Interest can be met at the moment as the story is in very early stages. Depending on your choices you may meet a second Love Interest, but it isn't quite a "meet cute" in that case.

 6 Potential Companions To Romance And/Or Befriend

As you live in the kingdom where no opportunities are limited by your gender, you’re free to court whoever your heart desires.

Choose one among 3 male and 3 female romance options, all available to be romanced by any version of the main character, regardless of your gender or appearance—as long as you make the right choices, of course.

A Mystery To Untangle

Get tangled up in the conspiracy as your curiousity leads you ever closer to the truth. Forge your own path as you uncover secrets and when the dangers escalate, decide how much are you willing to sacrifice to protect your own.

The murder mystery plot is intertwined and affected by the choice of the love interest, but not chained to any route.

Meaningful Choices & Endings

The game is designed to be played multiple times, with choices affecting how the story develops. Some things can only be discovered when taking a different path.

The game has no true ending; all endings are meaningful, and there will be multiple "good" and "bad" endings.

A childhood friend or a close acquaintance you've lost touch with, Rene is kind, loyal and a little bit naive. You've no doubt he would never betray you, but is he strong enough to handle the dangers you seek?

Adele, A Royal Knight

"Are you alright? That man really needs to learn some manners."

A recently promoted royal knight and the fifth child of a duke, Adele is friendly, bold and honorable. She's a close acquaintance and a capable knight, but would her righteous nature interfere with your investigation?

William, The Mysterious Merchant

"Words are cheap. Prove to me that I can trust you."

Blunt, stubborn and cynical, William has a business to run, people to protect and not much patience for narrow-minded aristocrats. Show him you're an ally worth having, or keep your noble pride and dismiss him as one of the commoners not worth interacting with.

Lorraine, The Left Hand Of The Queen

"Oh, my. Does the kitten have claws?"

A former commoner, Lady Lorraine gained her title for the services rendered to the crown. Evasive, controversial and sharp-tongued, rumors about her are a dime a dozen. Can you trust her to help you, or are you doomed to forever be merely one of the pawns on her board?

Kaede, The Visiting Prince

"Are you in the mood for a little adventure? I promise to bring you back before sunrise."

Carefree, hedonistic and yet at times startlingly melancholy, Kaede seems an odd choice for an ambassador, even if he is the seventh prince of Sovarra Empire. Can you trust him at face value, or does he have a hidden agenda?

Isidora, The Crown Princess

"It's refreshing to see another as dedicated to this kingdom as I am."

Driven, capable and definitely out of your league, the only child of the royal couple, Isidora's support could be your biggest advantage. Can you impress her enough to earn her regard, or will you remain merely one of the many to her?
